Easy-Clean LP Series Mini Conveyors Helped this Caterer to Expand Business
A large west coast catering company with lunch program contracts at 130 private schools needed a conveyor to perform as an assembly line for 6000 sandwiches prepared daily. They required a 24 ft length of conveyor with a low cost alternative to stainless steel construction, it must be easily dissembled by one person for sanitizing and have the ability to split into two conveyors to accommodate different ingredients.
Solution: Our low-profile LP Series conveyors, with minor customizations, offered a perfect fit. The LP Series’ easy-to-clean, standard hard clear anodized frames offered this customer a cost-effective, light weight alternative to stainless steel. Utilizing two 12-foot conveyors with a UHMW conveyor-to-conveyor transfer plate, the sandwich trays could traverse the full 24 feet. Or, as needed, the conveyors could be used independently for other food preparation assembly operations.
The features used to accommodate daily wipe-down sanitizing included: 1) an FDA approved urethane belt surface with edges capped to eliminate contamination from entering the belts fabric inner plies; 2) a UHMW slider bed surface for fast wipe down; 3) hard anodized, aluminum pulleys with stainless steel, double-sealed bearings; 4) stainless steel assembly hardware to eliminate the potential for rust forming from daily wipe-down; and 4) ¼ turn, T-handle, side-frame fasteners to allow for fast, easy disassembly.
Result: The multiple use demands were met and the caterer was able to accomplish many conveying tasks. Cleaning was greatly simplified and improved with total dismantle time of 5 minutes or less, by a single maintenance associate.
